Creating Markers

Rectangles:

Select the Rectangle tool in the tool palette.  Click on the GIF area and drag.  An outline of the rectangle will follow the mouse (just like most othe graphics programs).  Click on the rectangle you created to select it, and the URL will be hilited in the URL List on the right hand side of the window.

Ovals (Circles):

Select the ovals tool in the tool palette.  Click on the GIF area and drag.  An outline of the ovals will follow the mouse.  Click on the oval you created to select it, and the URL will be hilited in the URL List on the right hand side of the window.

Polygons:

Select the Polygon tool in the tool palette.  Click on the GIF area and release the mouse.  A line will follow the mouse.  Repeat this process until the polygon looks like you want it to, then click once more near the first point, and the polygon will close.  Click on the polygon you created to select it, and the URL will be hilited in the URL List on the right hand side of the window.
